Okay, so we have guys vs. girls…. Stevie Wonder vs. Whitney Houston….
Joshua Ledet-”I Wish”-Dancing like a chicken and, well, he can sing but is it interesting? I don’t think so. I liked this guy OK but not really impressed with his Stevie rendition. Lackluster performance at best.
Randy said “he blew it out”. Okay?
Jennifer “felt” the performance….. huh? I felt it too in a chicken coop maybe. Poor Jeremy calls it his “mantasia” move. Wow!
Steven says “ya had the snap, brought it home and you nailed it”. Is he senile?
Elise Testone-”The Greatest Love of All” was her choice and “I’m Your Baby Tonight” was Jimmy Lovine’s choice for her though. Love this girl’s voice, raspy and lots of range but not loving this song for her. The judges don’t look too impressed either.
Jennifer doesn’t think it’s her best. Agreed.
Steven says “yea, yea, yea”.
Randy thinks it wasn’t her best performance. Agreed.
“The Gentle Giant”-Jermaine Jones-”Knocks Me Off My Feet” is his choice. I don’t like this at all.
Steven thought the song fit him perfectly.
Jennifer thinks he’s a sweetheart. He needs to connect more with the song and sing to someone.
Randy didn’t love the chorus but he loved the verses. I didn’t like any of it.
Erika Van Pelt-A wildcard choice by the judges. Her choice is “I Believe in You and Me”. Nice, deep, rich voice. Cute little red gown. Didn’t knock my socks off but okay.
Randy says she has an amazing voice and unbelievable tone.
Jennifer had goosies and felt the same thing as Randy and thinks she is playing it too safe.
Steven says “I feel the same way”. Imagine that!
Colton Dixon-”Lately” is his choice. Jimmy tells him to “rely on his own vulnerability”.
I think he is flat here and there and then he kind of gets into it but it’s weird to me. Totally not his best song. The judges are acting like they LOVE it.
Steven says “he’s outstanding”.
Jennifer says it was “great”.
Randy at least said it had sharps and flats and technically started out pretty bad. He goes on to say that at the end he slayed it. Okay.
Shannon Magrane -The pride of Tampa-”I Have Nothing”-Another someone going flat but she is cute in her outfit. I am sure this is awful. She snarled at the second go at the chorus and that’s funny. What will the judges say?
Jennifer thinks the “thinking got the best of her”. Jenn advises her to relax into it and tell the story.
Steven thinks her nerves got the best of her.
Randy thinks everyone’s right and the nerves got the best of her and the melody went wrong in the front. Amen, Randy!
DeAndre Brackensick-Wildcard pick of the judges. He is funny when watching film of himself. He picks “Master Blaster”. He is pretty; however, can he sing? I don’t think he pulled this off and didn’t like the spastic movements. His voice isn’t strong enough to pull this song off; however, the judges look pleased.
Steven “loved him from the beginning” and said “he had a different flavor than anyone else”.
Jennifer thinks he has rhythm, soul and swag. She didn’t want it to end.
Randy starts with “Yo”. Randy didn’t want it to stop because it was so good and ends with “job well done”. Alrighty, then.
Skylar Laine-”Where Do Broken Hearts Go”. This girl has never sung a Whitney song and gives this one a little country flair. Love her earrings but I’m not sure about the song although it’s not the worst of the night.
Jennifer thinks she’s the “definition of composure” and she was nasally and not perfect but kept it together giving the “biggest moment of the night”.
Steven thinks “it was a thing of beauty” and “she nailed it” at the end.
Randy says the front was iffy but says she proved she could sing any song. Hot.
Heejun Han-”All in Love is Fair”. Oh, please make this stop! This isn’t even funny. I don’t get this guy at all. Lord have mercy. The crowd is cheering but I can’t figure out for the life of me why.
Jennifer loves him.
Steven loves his voice and says it is “special” and well, I agree, it is special.
Randy just thinks he should keep it up.
Hollie Cavanagh-”All the Men that I Need”. She is cute in her little black dress and doing a good job. Thought she might poke her eye out with that pointy ring.
Randy says she “nailed it”.
Jennifer says she’s “the one”.
Steven says she “nails it every time”.
Jeremy Rosado-JerBear-”Ribbon in the Sky”-May be the nicest guy alive and has such a pretty tonal quality but I don’t know about this performance. Don’t really much care for anything about this performance but Jennifer is smiling.
Steven says a velvety-smooth voice and nice passion.
Jennifer loves to hear his interpretation and says it was really, really beautiful.
Randy says not his best performance and not believ able. Oh, thank you, Randy.
Jessica Sanchez-”I Will Always Love You”-Looks great and sings the hell out of this snippet of the song. Best of the night up to this point. Hurray!
The judges are on their feet and Jennifer is jumping and bouncing. Really?
Randy says “give it all to her”. Says she’s legit. Best vocal of the night and one of the best singers in this competition.
Jennifer is speechless and says “just amazing”.
Steven says “you may be the one”.
Phillip Phillips-”Superstition”, of course. This is going to rock. He puts some darkness to it and wow. Love this kids moves and voice. Awesome performance. This was the best of night!
Steven says “he’s an interesting character”; “he just is”.
Jennifer says he killed it and made it his own.
Randy says we need him in the competition and he is different.
